Coming on the heels of the brilliant Invictus Means Unconquered in 1980, Tennessee Whiskey from 1981 is another strong David Allan Coe outing, full of interesting song choices and hard country performances la Merle Haggard and George Jones. After the song’s new popularity via the Traveller album, it has been recorded by numerous other aritsts including Deana Martin, daughter of Dean, and by the group Straight No Chaser, in a trademark acappella rendition for their 2019 Open Bar EP.
